WASHINGTON: As the world is outraged over Donald Trump’s immigration ban, the US president’s daughter seemed entirely unfazed to the humanitarian crisis provoked by her father.
While activists took to the social media to express their outrage over Trump’s ban and show support for the afflicted refugees and immigrants, the first daughter used her public platform to show off her glamorous outfit on the Instagram.
Last week, Ivanka shared a caption-less picture of herself and husband Jared Kushner to both her Instagram and Twitter accounts. The photograph showed the couple standing in front of a mirror—Jared dressed in a tuxedo, Ivanka in a metallic silver gown.
As one would expect, the Internet was not pleased with the poorly timed post and wasted no time in slamming Ivanka for being insensitive and out of touch.
Some called the move “tone-deaf,” while one user likened Ivanka’s callous behavior to that of French monarch Marie Antoinette, who is infamously quoted as having said “Let them eat cake” upon learning that the French people were starving and without bread.
And here’s how the internet users reacted to it:
One user even called it “tone-deaf”
Ivanka’s triggered a controversy last year, too!
An image of Ivanka Trump from an exclusive photoshoot with now defunct men’s magazine Stuff surfaced, and its first glance appeared to eerily foresee a connection between the Trumps and the presidency.
Shot in 2006, the photo sees the eldest Trump daughter draped on a very fancy looking desk in a gold dress next to a placard labelled ‘Vice President’.
OUTRAGE OVER IVANKA’S PRESENCE IN TRUMP MEETING WITH JAPANESE PM LAST YEAR
A number of Twitter users are expressing their outrage and shock after learning that Ivanka – who has no security clearance and is set to run her father’s business in a blind trust once he takes office – was present for Donald’s first sit-down talk with a foreign dignitary.
