Two tunnels on Havelian-Thakot section of KKH become operational under CPEC

ISLAMABAD: Two long tunnels at Havelian-Thakot section of Karakorum Highway have been operationalized, under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

Project Manager of China Communications Construction Company Zhu Jiangfan told media in Islamabad that the two tunnels, out of the six, had been made operational at a very difficult track.

He said work on the remaining tunnels was in final stages and would be completed within the stipulated time.

The project manager informed that the total length of the tunnels was over 10 kilometers which would be completed at a cost of about 1.3 billion dollars. More than 118 kilometer road, divided into three sections, was also being constructed under the CPEC project.
